On the 7th pay commission, the Modi government can take a big decision on Wednesday ie today. It is believed that the Modi government can stamp those recommendations, which will benefit lakhs of central employees. Employees protested on the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission regarding allowances. After this, the central government constituted the committee on this.

Explain that the Commission had recommended lowering of house rent allowance (HRA) from 30 percent to 24 percent of the basic salary. The provision of house rent allowance to 30 percent was made in the Sixth Pay Commission.

According to reports, the committee headed by Ashok Lavasa can recommend the existing HRA slab to 30 percent for metro cities, regarding the house rent allowance. This issue is expected to be announced shortly.

What is the whole case
1. Allowance is an important part of salaried employees of Central Government. In such a situation, when the Commission recommended reduction of allowance, the employees raised the voice of protest.

2. The Seventh Pay Commission recommended the removal of 53 out of the existing 196 allowances and some to be included in the others for the employees.

3. The Commission recommends an increase of 14.27 percent in basic salary, the lowest in the last 70 years, by any commission. With this reduction in allowances creates a big difference in salaries of about 50 lakh central employees.

4. In order to review the recommendations of the Commission on the allowance, the Central Government constituted the committee headed by Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa.

5. At the beginning, the committee was given four months time to submit its report to the finance minister. According to reports, in October last year, Ashok Lavasa had said that he had prepared his report.
